If your piece arrives damaged or faulty
Tell us within 7 days of delivery, with photographs of the piece and the packaging as it arrived. If a piece arrives broken, or has a genuine defect in the printing, assembly or paintwork, we will repair it, remake it or refund it — your choice, at our cost, including return shipping where a return is needed.
This is your right under section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, which gives you six months from delivery to return goods that are defective. Reporting transit damage quickly simply helps us claim against the courier.
If you change your mind
Made-to-order goods are the exception to the usual cooling-off rules. Section 44 of the ECT Act, which gives online buyers seven days to cancel, does not apply to goods made to a consumer's specifications — and every figure we make is produced only once you have asked for it, in the finish you chose.
So we cannot generally accept a return simply because you changed your mind. If your circumstances change, talk to us anyway — where a piece has not been started, or is a catalogue figure we could reasonably sell to someone else, we will do what we can.
Cancelling before your piece is finished
You may cancel an order in progress. Under section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act we may keep a reasonable cancellation charge covering the work and materials already spent on your piece. In practice:
- Before printing starts — cancelled in full, deposit returned.
- Printed but not painted — we keep the cost of materials and print time.
- Painting under way — for a catalogue figure we keep costs to date; for a custom commission, which cannot be resold, the deposit is normally forfeited.
We will always tell you the figure before you decide.
What is not a defect
Every piece is painted by hand, so small differences from a photograph — brush detail, shading, the exact placement of an effect — are normal and are not defects. Neither is damage caused after delivery by dropping, mishandling, cleaning with solvents, or displaying a piece in direct sunlight or heat.
Where a product page shows the sculptor's render rather than a photograph of a finished piece, the page says so. The render shows the sculpt, not our paintwork.
How to start a return
Message us on WhatsApp at +27 83 798 0415 or email resin8studios@gmail.com, with your order details and photographs. We will reply with what happens next. Do not send anything back before we have confirmed the return — we need to arrange the right packaging so it survives the trip.
Refunds
Approved refunds are paid back by the same method you used, normally within 15 business days of us agreeing the refund or receiving the returned piece.
Nothing on this page limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
